Stressed Out Kids

Are your kids stressed out?
Stress is a part of daily life-even of the lives of children. Children today may experience more stress in their lives than ever. Here are some keys to helping reduce stress in the lives of young children.
Help them learn to cope with unexpected challenges. Surprises
happen!
Prepare for what is to come. Practice being a
“doctor” before a
hospital visit. Read a book about airplanes before taking the first
airplane ride. Talk about what a new experience might be like
before
it happens
Practice praying about fears, challenges and expectations.
Make choices and take responsibility in ways that are appropriate for
their age and development. Children learn by successes and
failures.
Read children’s stories of how others cope with difficulties in their
lives.
Encourage pretending. Dressing up, being heroes and practicing life
while at play help children deal with stresses in their lives.
Provide opportunities for expression through art.
