The Bell-with-Profile is the logo for the National Mental Health Association.
The actual Mental Health Bell, a symbol of the NMHA since 1953
and made from melted down chains and shackles from mental institutions
across the country, stands in Alexandria, Virginia, and is recognized
throughout the nation as the symbol of mental health movement.

Today, the "bell" remains central in the logo.
The "profile" looks forward toward the future --
reflecting the MHA's continued leadership
in pursuing the vision described by the bell's inscription:

"Cast from shackles which bound them, the
bell shall ring out for the mentally ill
and victory over mental illness."
